Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” global tour was a huge success in 2018. The tour earned him more money than Beyonce, Taylor and any other artist’s touring. The trade publication and box office research group Pollstar revealed that Sheeran was the top earner of 2018 and made more money than any other artist in the last three decades.

The “Divide” tour saw him performing alone onstage and shared stage with Elton John for a few select shows.  The tour held 94 shows across 53 cities and sold 4,860,482 tickets, earning him $432 million.

The amount of money earned by Sheeran shattered the record for the highest global tour revenue by an artist in a single year.

Jay-Z and Beyonce’s “On the Run II” tour earned $254.1 million, while Taylor Swift’s 2018 “Reputation” tour earned her a whopping $345.1 million but none of these numbers even came close to Sheeran’s earnings.

Interestingly, Sheeran’s tour may not have made a lot of noise like Bey and Jay’s ‘On the Run’ tour, but it took off a huge chunk of money from fans.  In 2019, the road is clear and history would be made when we take a look at the many tours around the world.
